The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted life as we know it. The return to school in Pleasants County is extremely important and must be done in the safest way possible. Until we are able to return to a more traditional schedule, we must take the steps necessary to provide the best learning environment possible while continuing to guard the health of our students, staff and community.
Pleasants County Schools will be utilizing In-Person/Blended Instruction for school re-entry. Pre-K -12 students will physically attend school four (4) days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday), with instruction and learning on the fifth day (Wednesday) completed remotely. All busses and buildings will be cleaned and sanitized thoroughly each day with Wednesdays set aside for more intensive deep cleaning and sanitization. For students who are unable or choose not to attend in person, a virtual school option will be provided utilizing the WVDE Virtual Schools.
Based on guidance provided by WVDE and DHHR:
**Every student and staff member will be provided a face mask/face covering.
**Floors and walls will be marked indicating six feet of spacing to provide social distancing.
**Breakfast and lunch schedules and procedures will be established to include 50% capacity seating.
**Hand sanitizer and/or hand washing stations will be provided in each classroom and throughout school buildings.
**School buses/transportation will require seating arrangements, allowing only siblings and/or students cohabitating to sit together.
**Full remote learning can only be required by the Governor. All students will be instructed remotely five days a week. Virtual students will continue with previously established programming.
More specific information will be provided by individual schools.
ANY STUDENT OR STAFF MEMBER SHOWING SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19 OR MAY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO COVID-19 MUST FOLLOW WV-DHHR AND CDC REQUIREMENTS AND SHOULD NOT BE IN SCHOOLS.
