Superintendent's Message - Back to School 2019-2020
I would like to extend a warm welcome back to all staff, students and parents as we begin another great year in Pleasants County Schools! I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable summer filled with fun and relaxation.

I must take a moment to thank the maintenance crew, custodians, volunteers, and administrators for working diligently to complete summer projects.  Our schools look great. We take great pride in our facilities and it certainly shows in all our schools.

Construction projects are continuing throughout the summer and fall, which include: HVAC units and a new roof above the kitchen/cafeteria, restroom renovations at St. Marys Elementary, HVAC units in the Pre-K Wing at Belmont Elementary and a new hot water tank at Pleasants County Middle School.  Also, the upgrades to the storm water management system at St. Marys High School will begin soon.

We have a few new teachers for the upcoming year as follows: Mr. Connor Lancaster, Science- PCMS, Ms. Shealyn Delancey, Social Studies- PCMS, Mr. Michael Simonton, Social Studies- SMHS, Ms. Blake Walls, SMES- Pre-K, Mr. Howard Meeks- SMHS, Math, Mrs. Samantha Venderlic- SMES, Kindergarten.  We are very excited to have these talented new staff members join our team!

Our school system continues to strive to provide the very best education for our students. The GSA results and data will be analyzed to identify both strengths and weaknesses of our school system. I believe that we have the very best staff and know confidently that we will continue to strive for academic improvement, growth and success.

I am very proud of the hard work our students, staff and administration have demonstrated over the past year. The Math4Life initiative has been very successful and we look forward to continuing this program in year two.

I would like to thank the staff, students, and community for your continued participation, dedication, and support for our schools in Pleasants County.

As the new school year begins, we must remember that our students are counting on all of us. We will aim high and set goals for each learner knowing that our students will rise to our expectations. It is going to be a great school year in Pleasants County!
