Required Student Health Checkpoints for 18-19 School Year

Children who are healthy do better in school, live longer, have more productive lives and higher self-esteem. Please work with your child’s medical provider, Dentist and school to make sure your child has a great future and healthy smile! Starting in the 2018/19 school year, new students entering PreK or Kindergarten and students entering grades 2, 7 and 12 should show proof of a dental examination and HealthCheck/comprehensive health examination prior to entry into school. If your child is going into kindergarten and did not provide proof of a dental examination in PreK, proof will need to be provided for kindergarten enrollment.

Upcoming School Calendar Changes

We are so excited to be back in school and working with our students.  School systems have been directed to make every effort to recoup as much instructional time as possible.  The plan to accomplish this task was carefully thought out and every option considered.  As such, the following changes have been made to our school calendar...

Superintendent's Message - Work Stoppage
Pleasants County Schools has always placed a high priority on providing our students a quality education.  The greatest resource we have in our communities is our children and we take great pride in the responsibility of educating our students.  In order for our school system to be successful, we must consistently have a highly effective workforce.  We in Pleasants County Schools do not view ourselves as a workforce but a team.  We do not see our work as a job but a blessing to educate our youth.  Understanding the importance and value of our team, our professional and service employees deserve and need our support as they work with our State legislature to secure competitive wages and benefits.  West Virginia ranks 49th out of 50 states in teacher pay and its school employees have not had a raise in many years.  The significant increases in insurance premiums have outpaced salaries...

When to Keep Sick Children Home

Because we care... We coordinate with the local health department in protecting children from certain symptoms of communicable diseases. If your child has any of these symptoms, please keep him/her home, or make appropriate child care arrangements...

The flu season has started in Pleasants County. We want to prevent the spread of the flu and do our best to keep our students and staff healthy.
