SMES to become WVU-P Partner

Starting with the 2022-2023 School Year, St. Marys Elementary will join Pleasants County Middle and Belmont Elementary Schools as a Partnership Project School with the Education Division at West Virginia University at Parkersburg. As a member of the Project Partnership, schools will have opportunities for staff professional development, in-person programs for students, mini-grant opportunities, access to the Partnership Education Center- a resource and educational supply library for schools, and additional after school tutors. Along with BES and PCMS, SMES will now host teachers in residency (formerly known as “student teachers”) and students from the beginning-level education courses will observe classroom teachers. Dr. David Lancaster, Dean of the Education Division at WVU-P and Dr. Roberta Marshall, placement coordinator, will be working with Principal Tammy Haught to coordinate these new services and programs at SMES.
