The West Virginia Legislature has removed “educational leave” or what we called locally “leave of educational value” from the list of excused absences for all West Virginia Public Schools. ~~~~ If a student goes on a family trip/vacation during the school year, the absences will count towards the limit of 10 days per school year that can be excused with a parent note. Pleasants County Schools will no longer approve “leave of educational value” to comply with this new change to state code. (Changes are due to WV Senate Bill 568; W.V. Code §18-8-4(a).) School sponsored trips that are co-curricular or extra-curricular (including athletics, field trips, activities, and events) are not affected by this and will not count towards the limit of parent notes for absences.

Today at 3:30 PM, we sent out email reminders to those who have started the process but still have some forms to complete. Please check your email for a message from Droplet to see if you have any additional forms that need to be completed. At a minimum, everyone should have four forms to complete, with some having as many as twelve forms. We appreciate your continued effort in completing the beginning-of-year forms electronically.
