As part of our efforts to educate students on the dangers and consequences of alcohol and drug use, School Resource Officer Jason Reed, along with local Officer Kirby Seese, provide thoughtful and useful information during the Drug/Alcohol Awareness Program that is provided each semester. 7th and 8th grade students learn the most recent and relevant information from officers who work to keep our youth protected and safe.


7th & 8th graders participated in the "Get a Life" Financial Simulation Game yesterday. The game provided real-life examples to help students understand living expenditures and think about their futures and the importance of education. Thank you to West Virginia State Treasurer's Office, and all of the volunteers that made this event possible!

The 6th grade of PCMS visited the Campus Martius Museum in Marietta, Ohio today. Students learned about the settling of our area and saw many historical items from the 1700s. In addition to the museum, students learned how to dip candles, weave textiles, identify fossils, and march in the military.










Mr. Nichols' swim class at PCMS are learning the lifetime fitness activity of kayaking. Living in a river community offers plenty of recreational opportunities for, kayaking. It also provides several health related benefits, including:
* Increased Muscle Strength
* Core Strength & Balance
* Increased Cardiovascular Health
* Relaxation and Stress Reduction
* Problem Solving
* Increased Socialization
and, many more.

School Nurse Appreciation Day- May 7

Mr. Bell’s 7th period STEAM class completed their robotics coding unit by having students build and program their own battlebots using our Lego Spike Prime kits. Students then competed in a bracketed tournament to find the champion battlebot. Tucker Rupert and Adaly Bills won the tournament with their battlebot named Little Timmy.

Pleasants County Schools (SMHS/ PCMS) was fortunate to have Student and Faculty representation in the 2025 West Virginia Arts Alive Program. Here are a few pictures from the event.
Arts Alive is an annual event hosted by the WV Dept. of Education to showcase the artistic achievements of public school students in the state. It features a variety of performances in music, dance, visual arts, and theater, along with an art exhibition showcasing student work.
