In order to participate in National Attendance Awareness Month, PCMS and BES celebrated Attendance last week. Communities In Schools Site Coordinators Mara Eisenbarth, and Casey Maston, teamed up to focus on increasing school attendance and overall awareness to the importance of "being here!" Each day was a different dress-up theme, allowing students and staff to have fun together. Daily attendance facts were also presented each morning during announcements. Local business, Pressed of St. Marys, donated four, $15 gift cards as prizes for each grade level. Each day a student participated, their name was entered into the drawing for a gift card...so the more you participate, the more chances you have to win! Each grade level had one winner as well as a staff winner! On Wednesday, every student that was IN ATTENDANCE, received $5 MINUTEMAN DOLLARS as an attendance incentive. The week emphasized the importance of coming to school and creating good habits in order to be a successful student. The week also created a fun "relaxed" atmosphere for all, making a positive school environment and creating new memories. Communities In Schools Site Coordinators will continue to focus on their school goal of decreasing Chronic Absenteeism throughout the year. PCMS wants to provide new, "fun"ctional, incentives to educate, encourage and celebrate good attendance habits as well as a positive school experience for all!
