Students began signing up today for the PCMS Career Fair next week!

Last week, PCMS celebrated STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Week with an innovative and exciting event: a cardboard regatta. The challenge encouraged students to work collaboratively to design and construct boats made entirely out of cardboard and duct tape, with the goal of successfully navigating the length of the school pool. Students discussed buoyancy, stability, and durability when creating their boats. The challenge required students to apply principles of physics and engineering, such as understanding buoyant forces, material strength, and the importance of design in functionality.

PCMS Make-Up Picture Day

Friday, PCMS was abuzz with excitement as students and faculty gathered for the much-anticipated Pumpkin Drop event. This annual celebration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) brought creativity and innovation to the forefront as students put their engineering skills to the test.
The core challenge of the event was for students to design and construct a device capable of protecting a pumpkin from damage when dropped from a significant height. The goal was to apply principles of physics and engineering to create a contraption that would ensure their pumpkin landed safely without a single crack.
Participants worked in teams, each tasked with brainstorming, designing, and building their pumpkin protection apparatus. Using a variety of materials such as cardboard, bubble wrap, and parachutes, students demonstrated resourcefulness and ingenuity. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world scenario, fostering both teamwork and creative problem-solving.
Congratulations to Christian Trent, Yaden Henderson, and Mayson Russell on winning 1st place!
PCMS would like to thank Vistra Pleasants Power Plant for their continued support throughout the years in making the PCMS Pumpkin Drop happen!
