Mr. McCoy’s STEAM classes are taking on the Arctic Survival Challenge Series by building igloos! Students are learning problem-solving, teamwork, and design skills as they work together to create their icy shelters.

Pleasants County Schools and the Pleasants County Sheriff’s Office have become aware of concerns that there was a threat at Pleasants County Middle School circulating on social media. This information is not true and creates a lot of misinformation/rumors throughout our schools and community. Please know that the safety of our students is of the highest importance.

PCS Recognizes School Service Personnel Day! Thank you to our hardworking service personnel who serve the children of Pleasants County.

🌻 Our STEAM students are reaching new heights—literally!
This week, Ms. Binegar brought in a 10’ sunflower from her garden for the students to study in class. Students combined science, math, art, and engineering as they explored the beauty and patterns found in nature.
They measured the sunflower’s height, stem diameter, and leaf size, and discovered the amazing Fibonacci sequencehidden in the spiral arrangement of the seeds. We also learned how sunflowers follow the sun through phototropism, and students practiced sketching the sunflower to capture its repeating patterns.
It’s incredible to see how one flower can connect us to math, science, art, and design—all at once. 🌻

📢 Attendance Week at PCMS & BES! 📢
Brought to you by Communities in Schools
Did you know? 🤔
Research shows that missing just 10% of the school year—about 18 days, or only 2 days a month—can negatively impact a student’s academic performance. This is called chronic absence.
Our goal through Communities in Schools is to decrease absenteeism and ensure school is a safe, fun, and supportive place to learn.
🎉 Join us next week as PCMS and BES celebrate Attendance Week with Spirit Days to show that every day counts!
