School Nurse Appreciation Day- May 7
Mr. Bell’s 7th period STEAM class completed their robotics coding unit by having students build and program their own battlebots using our Lego Spike Prime kits. Students then competed in a bracketed tournament to find the champion battlebot. Tucker Rupert and Adaly Bills won the tournament with their battlebot named Little Timmy.

Pleasants County Schools (SMHS/ PCMS) was fortunate to have Student and Faculty representation in the 2025 West Virginia Arts Alive Program. Here are a few pictures from the event.
Arts Alive is an annual event hosted by the WV Dept. of Education to showcase the artistic achievements of public school students in the state. It features a variety of performances in music, dance, visual arts, and theater, along with an art exhibition showcasing student work.

Ms. Binegar’s STEAM classes have been participating in a Live Caterpillar to Butterfly Project. This project has been a fantastic educational activity where students have observed the caterpillars grow, form chrysalides and emerge as butterflies! The two classes started with 5 caterpillars each. To date, 8 have formed into chrysalides and 6 have emerged as butterflies! The class is looking forward to seeing if the remaining two chrysalides mature into butterflies.
Over several weeks the students have learned about the butterfly life cycle, metamorphosis, insect anatomy and environmental concerns facing butterflies. The project will end with the release of the butterflies.
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-9 with May 6 recognized as Teacher Appreciation Day! THANK YOU to our teachers!
Next week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week at PCMS! We are so thankful for our staff! Thank you to all of the businesses and our PTO for making our appreciation week possible!

Attention upcoming 5th grade students, or any PCMS student that would like to join band. Mr. Jones is hosting an instrument fitting on May 21st and May 22nd from 3:30 PM - 8:00 PM. Information will be sent home with 4th grade students. Any PCMS student that is interested in joining band for the 2025-2026 school year, see Mr. Jones for more information.
