SMHS School Counselors
Welcome back to another school year! Hopefully it will be full of new and exciting experiences. St. Marys High School has two guidance counselors. Mrs. Rinard and Mrs.Travers are here to provide assistance to your child to help him/her succeed in academics, social settings, and to help guide them in his/her path to the future.
The counselors work with students in many different capacities throughout the school year. Mrs. Rinard and Mrs. Travers will work with children in the classroom through guidance lessons that focus on many different areas including success in school, preparing for future after high school, college applications, understanding more about careers and developing a supportive school climate. Students can be seen on either an individual basis or with small groups. We encourage communication from parents and guardians.

College Classes through WVUP
St. Marys High School has partnered with WVUP to provide the opportunity for juniors and seniors currently enrolled at SMHS to participate in the early admissions program. Early admissions is offered to any junior or senior student with a 3.0 GPA to enroll and take college credit courses during high school. All courses except for Chemistry 111 and English 101/102, which is dual credit, is for college credit only.
Students are responsible for payment of the courses, which they are enrolled in and must contact WVUP business office for any issues with this. Courses are at a discounted rate of 50 dollars a credit hour. Payment is due prior to the FALL and SPRING Semester. Students can contact WVUP business office at 304.424.8223 to set up payment plan if needed.
Students need to preparte to purchase books if needed but at this time SMHS does have some to provide. Please talk with your school counselor, if they are issues with books.
If your student receives a book that is purchased by SMHS, this book MUST be returned by the end of the course. If the book is not returned, the student becomes responsible for paying for the book in full.

ASVAB TESTING AT SMHS
THE ASVAB TEST WILL BE GIVEN AT SMHS ON OCTOBER 14TH BEGINNING AT 8:10AM
THIS WILL BE CONDUCTED IN THE COMPUTER LAB

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test is a required test administered to anyone interested in enlisting in any of the US Armed Service branches. Minimum scores must be met in order to be able to enlist as well as to qualify for certain jobs within the service.

College Application Week
College Application week at SMHS is October 19th-23rd.
During this week 5 different institutions will attend. During their visit they will offer students FREE applications; information regarding their institution; scholarship opportunities; academic offerings; on the spot acceptance and financial aid information. They will meet with students during their scheduled Senior English class.
