JODY LUCAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
About the Organization
The purpose of the West Virginia Association of School Business Officials (WVASBO) is to promote the professional growth and welfare of business officials in the West Virginia public schools and to work for the promulgation and maintenance of efficient methods of procedure and high standards of ethical practice in the conduct of the business affairs of the county school districts.
About the Scholarship
The Jody Lucas Memorial Scholarship was established in 2018 to honor Conrad Jody Lucas who served the students of West Virginia and WVASBO in various capacities throughout his lifetime. For 2024, The West Virginia Association of School Business Officials wishes to continue the Jody Lucas Memorial Scholarship that is made possible by a sizable contribution from The Lucas family. In addition, WVASBO has contributed $500 to provide a $1,500 scholarship to a deserving student with the desire to further their education in the fall of 2024. One scholarship will be awarded, and the check must be issued to the educational institution.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
· Following high school graduation, the recipient must enroll in a post-secondary program of study at a college, university, or technical school as a full-time student in the fall semester.
· Recipient must be a legal U.S. resident and a current resident of West Virginia.
· Recipients must complete and submit a scholarship application, supporting materials and documentation by the specified deadline.
Required Supporting Documentation
· Applicants must provide a certified high school transcript that contains the student’s class rank and GPA.
· Applicants must submit a personal statement that provides information about their community involvement, career goals, and any connection to WVASBO. Personal statements must be no more than one page.
· Applicants must obtain a letter of recommendation from a WVASBO member. Letters of recommendation must be a maximum of one page.
