9-12 Summer SOLE- summer opportunities for learning and engagement at St. Marys High School

This summer, Pleasants County is excited to be offering an in-person Summer Program from June 7th through July 1st. The program will be called S.O.L.E. (Summer Opportunities for Learning and Engagement) and is funded through a grant through the state department that is open and offered to all students in grades K-12. Teachers for the program will be Pleasants County Teachers. Information in this letter is in regards to the 9-12 part of the program at St. Marys High School and the program is an extension of their current grade level.

The 9-12 program will offer opportunities for Credit Recovery, Intervention and Enrichment for Mathematics and English/ Language Arts, and preparation and review of material for the ACT/SAT. Students do not have to attend every week of the program, but should commit to a full week segment. Credit recovery requires a full week of attendance to be considered for successful completion of a nine-week’s recovery credit. One week of summer credit recovery allows a student to “recover” one nine week’s grade.

Each day the program will run in two segments-  9 AM to 1 PM for credit recovery and 11 AM to 2 PM for Intervention, Enrichment, and Test Prep. Students in credit recovery may choose to attend the last hour of the other segment each day. On the intent form, students should indicate what they are interested in completing during the times they intend to participate. During the weeks of June 7, June 14, and June 28 the program will run Monday-Thursday. The week of June 21 the program will run Tuesday-Friday. Breakfast and lunch will be available to students each day.

Transportation by bus will be available, however, Summer Program bus routes will drop students off at SMHS at 9 AM and pick up to take them home at 2 PM, otherwise parents may arrange transportation for their students.
