Junior Scholarship

The  Horatio Alger Association will be awarding National Scholarships of
$25,000 in addition to State Scholarships of $10,000 as well as other specifically targeted scholarships. We want to provide scholarships to
students who, given the chance financially, could succeed in college.


The application period for the National, State and targeted scholarships opens December 1, 2022 and will close on March 15, 2023. 


The requirements:

● Be enrolled full time as a high school junior in the United States
● Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private
institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year
institution)
● Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)
● Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
● Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
● Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and
● Be a United States citizen

The association also offers CTE scholarships of up to $2,500. Scholarships are awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States. The application period for the CTE scholarships opens each year on March 15th and closes June 15th.

The requirements:

●Have completed high school (or earned a high school equivalency credential)

●Must be enrolled full-time by the Fall of the year to be eligible.

●Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States

●Demonstrated critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA)

●Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity

●Be under the age of 30

●Be a United States citizen
