ST. MARYS, WV -- Pleasants County Schools has been selected by the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) to serve on the state’s Educator Support Network, a three-year initiative designed to strengthen instructional practices and professional learning opportunities for teachers across the Mountain State.

Only five counties—Jefferson, McDowell, Pleasants, Summers, and Wayne—were chosen for this honor based on recommendations and demonstrated progress in implementing evidence-based practices in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and overall instructional improvement.

As part of the Educator Support Network, the Pleasants County team will participate in trainings, pilot new instructional initiatives, and help guide professional development decisions for both new and experienced educators statewide. The district’s team includes teachers and administrators from each programmatic level as well as representatives from the central office, ensuring a broad perspective on classroom and district needs. The team may also be deployed to other counties in the region to train other school districts on best practices

Eric Croasmun, Director of Curriculum and Personnel, praised the selection, stating, “This recognition reflects the commitment of our teachers and administrators to continuous improvement and high-quality instruction. We are proud to represent Pleasants County and contribute to the future of education in West Virginia.”

The Educator Support Network will meet regularly over the next three years to collaborate, test innovative approaches, and share successful practices (through conducting training) that can be replicated across the state.
