St. Marys High School STARS group and Leo Club are sponsoring a care bag drive for the month of October and November. This fundraiser is in honor of all Pleasants County residents as well as both students and staff of SMHS who survivors of cancer are or in memory of those who lost their battle to Cancer. Care bags are given to patients who are undergoing Chemotherapy to help not only ease the physical pain related to chemotherapy but also the emotional strain that might occur. Bags are filled with a variety of items as but not limited to:
a colorful bag to take to chemo (or a small duffel for the guy on your list).
a soft, fleecy throw blanket to keep warm during chemo or in front of the TV (fleece is a good choice for texture and because it is easily washed);
unscented moisture lock gloves — chemo can dry out your skin.
unscented hydrating therapy socks — make sure they are soft and not too tight around the ankles.
unscented moisturizers — full-size for home use and travel size for the car, purse, or bag.
unscented soap (e.g., Dove moisture bars).
tissues.
unflavored lip balm.
assorted candies — this may or may not be a hit, but at the very least can be shared with visiting friends or family.
an iPod loaded with favorite music.
light-reading materials like magazines or a book of short stories.
crossword puzzles, and games.
These bags will be donated to Marietta Memorial Strecker Cancer Center and Camden Clark Medical Center to bring comfort to all patients during their treatments.
SMHS staff and students would like to invite community members of Pleasants County to participate in this fundraiser during tonight's home game against Tyler County
A white table will be set up by the Athletic Booster as well as the Band Booster concession stand where any donations can be left, simply drop off the items listed above.
**Please note this does not preclude admission charge for St. Marys football games**

Reminder that tonight's game vs Tyler Consolidated will kick off at 7:30 p.m. We will honor any senior in band, cheer and football tonight. Senior recognition will be approximately 7 p.m. We will again offer digital ticketing at the gate through GoFan; adults' total cost is $6 and students' $5, cash tickets are $7 adults and $5 students. Recently, the WVDE released its Accountability Report. The report assesses each county based on the criteria in the "Balanced Scorecard" as well as the "operational effectiveness" of the district. The state examines 11 indicators. PCS was one of six counties in the state to achieve "green" status with no areas “on watch” from the state! Thank you to our staff, students, and board members who all played a part in meeting these 11 indicators.

Our Bullying Prevention Program, Olweus, has several resources that students, staff, and families can read. Topics include- Why Address Bullying?, Definition, Types of Bullying, Roles Students Play, and Prevalence.
These can make great discussion points when discussing how to prevent and address bullying issues. Access the resources at:

The homecoming game kickoff time has been moved up. The game against Magnolia will begin at 7p.m. on Friday, October 13.
The Celebration of the Belles will start at 6:25pm. Please plan to arrive early to celebrate the honored ladies!
The parade will still step off from the marina at 4:30p.m.
As we were to phase-in our new bullying prevention program, students in grades 3-12 will be asked to participate in the Olweus Bullying Questionnaire during the first two weeks of October. The information from this questionnaire will help guide our school staff members in implementing the OBPP effectively in our schools. Parents were notified of their right to opt out of having their student participate in this questionnaire in September.
