This week SMHS Forensic science students are determining the impact angle (the angle between the path of the blood drop and the surface) of blood spatter. They will drop the synthetic blood from one meter above the top surface at varying degrees, then measure the major and minor axis of the drop, and apply the equation: impact angle= sin-1(minor axis/major axis); this task will help determine the point of origin of unknown blood droplets.
