The deadline for the 2021 PROMISE Scholarship application and 2021 - 22 FAFSA has been extended to July 1, 2021 .

Mrs. Corrigan's Forensic class is determining the area of origin of an impact by calculating the degree of the angle from the blood spatter. The students will then place strings at those angles to find where the blood source originated in three- dimensional space.

Kylie Wright, Lara Fetty, and Cara Masters were recognized for scoring 30 or higher on the ACT during the 2020-2021 school year!

Shepherd University Summer Start Program: All college bound students are invited to begin their college career at Shepherd this summer! Through Summer Start, students will enroll in up to 7 credits at Shepherd. They will live on campus, take classes, and participate in cultural and outdoor activities. Washington County Fish and Game scholarship. Please fill out the scholarship application (https://5il.co/qw6c) for a chance at 1 of 3 $500.00 scholarships. All applications must be completed in it's entirety. Applications are due by April 30,2021 and need to be emailed to jmartshaw@gmail.com. Winners will be notified by email and will be announced on May 14, 2021.

The horticulture class at St. Marys High School has been hard at work! Soon, hanging baskets, vegetables, ferns, and flowers will be available from our Vocational Agriculture Department. Watch for details on sales coming soon!

The West Virginia Disability History Essay Contest is back for 2021! The deadline has been to Monday, March 29, 2021. This contest is designed to provide high school seniors with an opportunity to showcase their writing skills, share what they have learned about the Disability Rights Movement, use their ability to form and express opinions, and perhaps to earn some money to help them into them future! The deadline to enter this year's We the Students essay contest is April 15, 2021, less than a month away. This essay prompt this year is: What is the relationship between equality and justice? The sixteen student winners will receive a total of $20,000 in scholarship prizes. First2 Network has scholarship and internship opportunities for first-generation, female, and other students who are underrepresented in STEM across WV. Please save the date February 25th, 10 - 10:45 AM, to join First2 Network in a webinar and Q and A for all high school teachers, school counselors and high school students interested in college, particularly any who may have interest in a STEM major. This presentation will give a quick reminder of how to pay for college, including completing FAFSA and applying for PROMISE. Next, representatives from universities and partner sites including Marshall, WVU, WVSU, UC, WVU Tech, Fairmont, WV School of Osteopathic Medicine, Green Bank Observatory, and High Rocks will give a quick look at paid summer internships for graduating seniors intending to major in a STEM field and will share the benefits of joining the First2 Network on campus. There will be time for Q and A following the presentation, and university faculty as well as WV undergraduates majoring in STEM fields will be on hand to answer questions. A friendly reminder that in just 2 days we will be participating in our Annual Ham, Bacon, and Egg Sale! This Sunday, March 7th at 2pm we will be in the high school gym auctioning off our products. Please call in to help us allot socially distanced seating, but feel free to come join us if you simply forgot.
