In the coming days there is an expectation that the FDA will approve the Pfizer COVID vaccine for students 12-15 years of age. This week SMHS Physical Fitness students are participating in the FitnessGram. It is the yearly state assessment for our first year high school physical education students. Although there is a waiver in place to forgo test results this year due to COVID, we still want to see where our students are regarding their physical health, and what we can do to improve our students’ health. With only one more component to measure, our data has looked outstanding with the majority of our P.E. students passing all standards thus far.
St Marys High School’s LSIC will conduct their annual required Open Meeting for parents, community members and the faculty to discuss academic progress at the school on May 19th at 4:00PM in the school library.

The 8th grade students at Pleasants County Middle School visited St. Marys High School and the MOVTI on Wed., April 21st. Students were greeted by Benny the Blue Devil as they arrived! A panel of students from SMHS talked to the future freshman about various programs and experiences they can look forward to participating in at the high school. The SMHS marching Blue Devil band made a debut performance in their new uniforms to welcome the group and encourage participation in marching band. As the students exited the auditorium for their MOVTI tour, SMHS cooks treated them to freshly made purple and gold “SM” cookies! We are looking forward to having these students with us next school year!

April 21 is Administrative Professionals Day! We would like to take this opportunity to recognize the hardworking individuals who keep the financial, secretarial, documentation and many other aspects of our school system running smoothly.
In Mr. Simonton's Geography class, students are participating in a model UN simulation. Each student has a country that they have researched; they are using that information to solve hypothetical problems around the world.
