📰 St. Marys High School Hosts Successful Career and Adult Fair
St. Marys, WV — Students at St. Marys High School took an important step toward their futures today as they participated in the school’s Career and Adult Fair, a full-day event designed to prepare them for life after graduation.
The day began with the Career Fair, where students had the opportunity to explore a wide range of professions. Each student selected four career sessions to attend, allowing them to gain firsthand knowledge about potential career paths, required education and training, and real-world experiences directly from professionals in the field. From healthcare and education to skilled trades, business, and public service, students were exposed to meaningful opportunities that helped them better envision their futures.
Between sessions, students were able to attend a career panel, where Jared Moncman, Caroline Bailey, Jim Rubeinstein, Danny Najr and Dave Meeks spoke to students about success after high school. They discussed what made a good employee, the importance of soft skills, things they wanted to see in employees and spoke about their own personal experiences with life after high school.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the Adult Fair, where students attended five life-skills sessions centered on essential topics such as financial literacy, housing, employment, and personal well-being. These sessions were designed to equip students with the knowledge and confidence needed to successfully transition into adulthood.
The success of the event would not have been possible without the generous support of local businesses, organizations, and community members who volunteered their time and expertise.
Special thanks to Career Fair presenters:
Perry Associates; Allison Yonker; Mykaela Davis; Marietta Memorial Hospital; Sheena Steele with Pathway Real Estate; WVUP Health Science Department; Momentive; Mercede Trescott; Nicole Lowther and Leaann Buchannan; Marietta College; Tanner Bleakley; Artisan Cosmetology; United States Military; WVUP Agriculture Program; Caroline Bailey; WVU Extension Services; WV Division of Corrections; Dale Evans; Christine Davis and HINO; Eric Little; Baxter Heating and Cooling; WVUP Education Program; Megan McKnight; Bryon McGrady with the Laborers Union; WVUP Workforce, Technology, and Welding Programs; Glenville State University; and Land Management.
Special thanks to Adult Fair presenters:
Pleasants County Bank; Sheena Steele with Pathway Real Estate; Caroline Bailey with the WVU Extension Office; Michelle Nabers with WVUP; WVUP Financial Aid; Jennifer Cunningham with Neighborhood Network; Mark Hadley and the St. Marys Fire Department; Mindy Hadley, Pleasants County Magistrate; Erica Pierce with the City of Belmont; Heather Bayless; Eric Little; Peer Solutions; Bryon McGrady; and Cody Logston.
St. Marys High School extends its sincere appreciation to all presenters for their dedication to supporting students and investing in the future of the community. Events like the Career and Adult Fair play a vital role in helping students connect classroom learning to real-world opportunities while building the skills necessary for success beyond high school.
