
Congratulations, Class of 2021!


Tonight our Board of Education recognized the 2021 Teachers of the Year! Mr. Satterfield, Mrs. Casto, Mr. Meeks, Mr. Nelson. Thank you for your service!


Beginning at 1:00 p.m. today, seniors or their parents may come to the SMHS office to pick up their graduation ceremony tickets. These tickets will only be used in the event that graduation would be moved indoors due to inclement weather. Tickets may be picked up between 1:00 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. today and between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. tomorrow. Please be sure and pick up your tickets between these times.

Attention: St. Marys High School will be hosting a county-wide Emergency Services Training on June 2nd, 2021. Local law enforcement, fire departments, and EMT’s will be present from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at SMHS. Part of the training will be a mock Active Shooter drill. Pleasants County Schools will be following A.L.I.C.E procedures. Selected county school employees will be present in the building. No students will be present during the training.

Congratulations to Darrien Bortey and Ben Long for signing to continue their athletic career, football with Alderson Broaddus University.

Attention Virtual Learning Families:
**Device turn-in will be conducted at the PCMS/ BES front loop for all Virtual Learners on Thursday, June 3 from 10 AM to 11 AM.
**At this time, all virtual learners should turn in any school-owned technology devices including iPads, Laptops, hot-spots, and any other school-owned accessories (keyboards, headphones, etc.)
**If you are unable to make it to this drop-off time, you need to call the principal of your child’s school of record to set-up an appointment to turn in your device(s.)
**All devices must be turned in by 3:30 PM on Friday, June 4.

This week, SMHS Health students are submitting their final projects. Each student had to have an approved topic, typed speech as well as a 4–5-minute speech, and make a 3-D Project that represented their topic.

SMHS Journalism I students are completing the Photography Unit. This morning they took photos that demonstrated the Rule of Thirds.

This week SMHS Art students are wrapping up projects for the year. Art I students have just completed Aboriginal dot paintings after learning about Aboriginal culture and language. Ceramics students are glazing projects they made from clay including boxes, mugs, and bowls. Crafts students are learning how to weave and made their own looms out of grapevine. Several students are working with Mrs. Helgren to get artwork ready to be displayed next week in the upstairs hallway. The end of the school year in the art room is a very busy time!!

Congratulations to SMHS student Kyle Jones on receiving Superior ratings on his Vocal and French horn solos for the 2021 West Virginia Solo and Ensemble Festival!


St. Marys Elementary has 30 DVD copies of the SMES Winter Olympics from 2014. Current seniors were in 4th grade at that time. If you would like to purchase a DVD for $7, please contact SMES at 304-684-3510.
